Our Vacancy

Taking up a newly created position, supporting eSmart Networks expansion, the Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing direct and subcontract works bringing together the various disciplines of Electrical, ICP and Civil works. As Construction Manager you will support the Head of Construction with operational team growth and development as well as driving team performance and a positive Health and safety culture. So, what will you be doing?
As well as line management responsibilities, you will be contributing as a member of the management team to the development of company strategy and to the Business Plan. Taking full accountability for site construction, engineering support and planning for successful delivery of ICP, you will also implement and oversee policies, processes and procedures for the Operations function.

You will also:

Ensure Asset is constructed in line with network standards and overseeing submission of information in line with IDNO, DNO and other regulatory bodies’ standards.
Ensure that work planning and delivery optimises the profitability of schemes.
Lead by example in regards to Company health and safety compliance in all aspects of operations ensuring that safe working
Recruit, manage, develop and motivate the team to achieve agreed targets

Of course this doesn't cover the full remit of the role, however, this will give you a flavour of what to expect.

The Person:
You will be from a Civil Engineering and/or Electrical engineering background within construction, where you have previously held a leadership role. We would expect you to have a good understanding of Groundwork & Civils, alongside working knowledge of current Legislation, Technical Standards & Specifications, Codes of Practice and Recommendations relating to Electricity Distribution.

This will be a customer facing role and therefore, having a positive attitude towards customer service and understanding of its impact on business performance is key.

Alongside the above, knowledge and/or understanding of the following will help your application:

Project cost and budget management.
Continuous Improvement within existing and new processes.
NERS – National Electricity Registration Scheme.

Skills:
To be successful within this role, you will be skilled in the successful management, supervision and delivery of multiple utility projects. You will also possess exceptional leadership, motivational and people skills. Coupled with the above, we are also seeking

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain compelling relationships.
Demonstrable proactive and motivated approach.
The ability to plan and deliver agreed objectives in line with company-wide strategy.
Ability to investigate, resolve or escalate customer issues/requirements.
Ability to coach and mentor team members.
