The HV / LV design engineer role will play an integral role supporting the tendering team through early design advice and completing detailed design work for electricity infrastructure projects from LV up to 11kV.

What will you be doing?
Working on a range of interesting ventures from budget design to operational handover, you will ensure that designs are technically and commercially compliant and delivered within agreed timescales.

This emerging market space is well suited for design engineers wanting to further develop their existing skills in designing the infrastructure to these new technological advances, where we will offer support with your professional development.

The main responsibilities of the role will be:
• Preparation of compliant and high-quality electrical designs for LV to 11kV ICP connections
• Provide innovative solutions to enable grid connections in a timely manner
• Undertake the role of Designer' under the CDM regulations
• Carrying out cable capacity calculations, load flow studies, protection studies and earthing studies
• Ensure designs are compliant with legislation, industry and adopting utility specifications and all HSEQ requirements.
• Delivering and reviewing electricity infrastructure designs, from budget mark-up through detailed design to successful delivery
• Liaise with project managers and delivery teams ensuring open and thorough communication channels.
• Obtain relevant IDNO and DNO approvals
• Problem solve with other engineering disciplines

The Person:
eSmart Networks provides a highly technical and competent problem-solving service to our customers, so we are looking for outstanding individuals who want an opportunity to grow and develop.

To be successful within this role you will have experience of providing technical support in developing electrical engineering solutions. You will also have a clear understanding of your responsibilities under CDM regulations.

In addition, you will have:
• Detailed Knowledge of UK Transmission & Distribution industry
• Strong knowledge of DNO and IDNO technical requirements, including G81 standards
• PV/generation/battery storage technical knowledge
• Knowledge of IET codes of practice an advantage (Electric Vehicles, PV systems, Electrical Storage)
• Knowledge of BS 7671 18th edition an advantage
• Strong working knowledge of relevant ENA Engineering Recommendations (G99, G100, P28, P29 etc).
• Previous experience in working on utilities or major infrastructure projects
• Knowledge of UK Transmission & Distribution industry
• Effective communication skills, to include management of key working relationships.

Experience & Qualifications:
• Degree qualified in Electrical Power Systems/Electrical Engineering
• Proven experience in the design of both AIS & GIS substations up to 132kV
• Experience in design and planning of DNO/IDNO networks
• Experience in the grid connection application process
• Good relationships with DNOs, IDNOs and Power System Consultancies
